Clean that carSnowdon

Must take my chauffeuring job seriously and keep the car clean. I would hate Mr Connolly to see it in this state.

Mind you those boys would probably have upset him if he had seen us waiting around for the start of the Snowdon leg. The sun came out again as we hit North Wales and we had to kill time before invading the Pen y Gwryd car park.

Half way up Snowdon Snowdon summit

Snowdon is probably the best running mountain. The "PYG" track is superbly made and the path eases off the vertical for long stretches. However the climb to the final ridge is still very steep and needs careful footwork on the way down. This did not occur to John who drew more blood from some spectacular somersalting!

After this morning's climb the question was would the legs go at all? They were extremely sore and tight.

Despite a long photo stop to try and catch the Train near the summit and a quick chat with marshall Mike E, the boys clocked the 2nd fastest time here - 1hr 40min. This put us confidently into third place and left lots of time for a shower in the Treaddur Bay Hotel, Holyhead before the pasta party and ferry.

Ireland is wet. After driving through the night we were soaked after 5 minutes and for 2 hours 14minutes climbed waterfalls, tackled windswept summits, sunk deep into Irish peat bog and waded swollen rivers. The only consolation was the third fastest time and back down to warm clothes and bacon butties long before many of the other parties got off the mountain. Andy then bored Joe & Eileen with the comparative merits of New Zealand and Irish sheep farming!

And so to the party and celebrations in Killarney. After a fantastic and much needed afternoon's nap the boys hit the Guinness and Challenge Dinner. We gasped with awe as the Happy Wanderers picked up their prize for overall winners but were then amazed to find that we were in second place overall. The £38,000 that Charles had largely raised pushed us up a place and we walked away with both the Scafell Bowl and the City Challenge. For more party photos click here

So it's back to work for another year. What will I do to keep myself amused until the next four peaks challenge?
