Monday 10 November 2008 Fancy running a mountain marathon? We did another one in October 2007 with a very respectable 24th place, our best ever. Here are some tips on how to do it. Original Mountain Marathon is the new name for the KIMM. We are off to the Galloway Forest Park in South West Scotland for a weekend of mountain orienteering. 4 Peaks 2006 and we are off to Scotland for 48 hours of driving, climbing and running. See how we got on this year. Mountain racing in the Lake District is the order of the day as David and I enter the KIMM for the 6th or 7th time. The 2005 Vauxhall Four Peaks challenge provides tough competition in some grim weather but the Deloitte team acquits themselves well and staggers home with the Ben Nevis Trophy. Running across England is the next challenge after walking across Wales. At Easter I explore the first stage of this with a 30 mile jaunt from the Devon coast. Brecon Adventure This year the Karrimor Mountain Marathon is closer to home in the Brecon Beacons. David and I subject ourselves to another energetic weekend together with 3500 other contestants and a bunch of West Country doctors. Not the Windsor... half marathon was run on Sunday 22 August along the Jubilee River. Excellent organisation and good company marked this unmissable fixture on the racing calendar. Across Wales Walk "How about a 45 mile walk across Wales" said David to me one day. "OK" I replied, "good training for the KIMM and we might even run some of it". Find out how we got on crossing a country in a day. Neolithic Marathon 26.2 miles across fantastic countryside in Wiltshire beats road running any day although a bit of training would help. Back to Lisbon Our regular visit to Lisbon for the Half Marathon is livened up by the Kings this year plus a chance to see Sasha's surf school. Killer KIMM Ross and David take on more than they expected when entering the 2000 Karrimor International Mountain Marathon. This year's event was held in the South West Lake District on one of the wettest and stormiest weekends of the year. 3 Peaks Yacht Race The Doctors team plus Ross take on crack challengers for in the 2000 Helly Hansen 3 Peaks Yacht Race. After an epic 6 days we find ourselves surprisingly close to the front in an epic finish. Karrimor 99 First timers Ross and David compete over a two day Scottish mountain course in this true adventure race. 4 Peaks challenge The Deloitte & Touche boys race over mountains across four countries and finish up with a large number of pints of Guiness. New York Marathon The classic city marathon - 26.2 miles through the five boroughs with fantastic crowds cheering you on all the way. Lisbon 1/2 marathon Lisbon is a great place to spend a weekend so we needed little excuse to book up for the 1999 1/2 marathon and spend a great time in a great city.
