The Summer holidays are here at last and the Cattell and Barker families are off to Barbados. The trip starts on a real high as Barbara negotiates 7(!) upgrades to Upper Class on Virgin. Kids go wild ordering popcorn every five minutes and hopping from channel to channel.

They will be in for a shock when we return to cattle class on the next flight.

We found our house at Batts Rock, Ocean Blues on the internet and it turns out to be every bit as fabulous as the pictures made out. All my nervousness disappeared as we inspected the Moroccan style interiors, the private rooms and balconies and the great views of the sea. Marci who looked after us was also wonderful so we may well be back.

Although the house is on a busy road, all the rooms face the otherway. From the sea you can see the house best with its layer after layer of balconies stepping down to a wide final platform on the cliffs above the sea.

A spiral staircase on the right then leads down to a beach in a little cave from where you can swim. The house splits into a smaller house and two apartments but we took the whole lot and it was wonderful.
