The Jones have planned our visit to the Grand Cadoument well and by 9.30 we are well established on the carnival route in Banks Hall. The question is will our wine and beer last until the floats arrive? 11.30 and the bands are streaming past. Hundreds of people in some of them with amazing costumes - all jumping up and "grin'ing" - which looks pretty physical to Nick and me although all the girls wear tights. We get a chance to find out for ourselves when we are both assaulted by Bajan beauties... |

At 2.30 it is down to Spring Garden Highway for more to drink and to watch the bands reach the finish. There must be about 80,000 people down here - about a third of the island. We find a vantage point at the double decker Tim's Bar where Nick and Heather are doing a bit of grin'ing of their own and Louise is whistling on the band. |
