Leaving Cap CorseSkipper louiseOne of my lasting memories of Corsica from the sea will be the aerial perspectives. Every day we get fantastic views of the mountains disappearing into the haze (here coming out of Galleria).

A second, all too rare, memory is the peace and quiet when we get the sails up and switch off the engine... just bliss.
Girolataboys on the quayThe gulf of Girolata is the furthest South that we get and for most of the year has a tiny village of the same name, 10 miles from the main road by dirt track. In August the place comes alive with yachts. We totally fail to get into all the initial restaurants that we try out but Laurent charms the place by the dock and we have a great evening as a result.
Vicky in Girolata Girolatat castleWe hike up to the castle to whet our appetites only to discover that it is private and no entry. Never mind, it gives us the idea for a great run the next day when John and I do a great, and tough, route round the bay and over the hills.

Girolata is the further we get south and the next morning we start making our way back. Highlights of the return trip are a great evening in Calvi, complete with very entertaining guitar duet, a rocky cave with a cave that we expore in the dinghy and more 'nudie beaches'. Back in Macinaggio we say goodbye to Laurent and "Charleston" and head of for the hills...
