 Off to
the races at Happy Valley on Wednesday night to lose some money. Even the race
track in Hong Kong is high rise. But rather than being in the multi-story
members enclosure we are slumming it in the $10 public enclosure. The girls
complete the picture by taking out McDonalds. |
Charles is already celebrating after a tidy win on the
second race. Will he still be up by the end of the evening we think. Meanwhile
Maria, Maverick and Nick all look pleased to have escaped from the office for
an early night.
|
 Most of us leave
Happy Valley before the gambling really takes hold. On Friday night we are out
again, this time sampling the food in SoHo. Loraine, Maria and Louise look like
they have enjoyed the local Spanish cuisine. |
 Hong Kong
has got very misty in the mornings. Great views from the top of the Centre
tower. By the afternoon things have cleared as this shot from our hotel in
Quarry Bay shows. |
 A
walk across Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon reveals a great local interest
in martial arts. (nb Tommy). Don't get too close to that sword lesson, they
look really sharp. These guys with sticks (spears?) look a bit more benign.

|
 They clearly
don't have laws about carrying knives about in public places here. These ones
look lethal. I feel a lot safer with this woman doing Tai Chi.
|
Finally a small lake in the park is host to
the fastest remote controlled boat racing I have ever seen. These sleek craft
shoot up and down the lake like bullets although as I watched one overturned
and looked very sad and wet. |
