Day 1 - First steps

First day of our introduction to ski touring and our guide, Terry Ralphs, takes us up into the Leysin ski area for a climb followed by some transceiver training.

The target of our ascent is Truex, one of four peaks above Leysin. This 2194m peak is a fairly gentle climb, about 2 hours from the top of the Les Fers lift.

After lunch we head to the avalance training facility at the top of the Tete D'Ai lift.

The course is run by the International School of Mountaineering at Leysin.
