Christmas on the beach
Christmas 2000 and we are doing things a bit differently. After blizzards in
France last year we decide to join the Fergusons and Stebbings for a bit of
Winter sunshine. 10 Fabulous days of sun (mostly), beach, diving, skiing and
relaxing. We catch up on our reading, socialising and eating out while Tommy
chases girls and Louise hangs out.

Windjammer Landing is made up of villas built
into the side of one of the steep volcanic hills on the North West side of St
Lucia. Our villa had great views of the sea, its own plunge pool, and plenty of
room for the kids to spread out and find their own space. And with those steep
hills you have the added benefit of a workout everytime you decide to walk home
rather than waiting for the hotel shuttle service. |
 Christmas in the sun
does feel a bit different. I have never seen Santa arrive by speedboat before!
Still, Louise, Romily and Clemmy seem to be having a great time. Freddy, out of
shot, was also getting into the occasion while Tommy, Josh and Patrick were
more interested in sneaking off and chasing the girls...

Of course we would not go on a Caribbean holiday without doing some
diving. This time we went with Thomas and "Froggie's Diving", based
at the Watersports in Windjammer. Windjammer is not the greatest base for a
diving holiday as most of the best sites are quite a bit further south. However
it does have access to some of the best restaurants on the island so you have
to compromise somewhere. Froggies also had a pretty slow boat (but the fast one
is coming (?)) so it could take up to 2 hours to get to the best sites. They
were however friendly and proficient which was some compensation and we had
some great dives.

A typical sight of the boys disappearing
with their gang. The girls were more relaxed preferring to work on their tans
and catch up on reading. Is it just a question of time?
The boys also prove much less photogenic. Trying to get Patrick to pose for a
shot is like trying to get blood out of a stone.
