Karafuu (which means "cloves") Beach Resort is 90 bumpy minutes from Stone town on the East coast of Zanzibar. With thatched cottages and a bar designed with Zanzibar furniture it captures the style of the island and makes a great place to relax. Tommy and Louise live in the pool while Vicky gets into box aerobics and massages.

Where would a tropical beach holiday be without diving. Great fish and an exciting trip to Mnemba island in the North, but overall the coral and reef suffer in the Indian Ocean surf and are disappointing. We find much better coral on a dive out of Stone town. Doug and Mario proove great hosts.

So full marks to Karafuu for a place to relax. We all improve our French and enjoy the sound of the wind and waves from our beach front cottages at night. (check out the Karafuu website.)
