This summer we escape to Tobago to stay in Garry and
Sabine's wonderful new house, villa Petrus. The name gives a clue to the
quality and style of the place. Beautiful hill top views of mountain landscape
with the sea in the distance, furnishing in excellent taste and the biggest
pool you have ever seen.
We share this luxury accomodation with Fi, Richard and family and Penny and
Mike.
|
Tobago is well supplied with beach side bars to enjoy a
sundowner in. At Turtle Beach we are serenaded by an excellent three man
Calypso band who compose a song especially for Louise.
|
 Tobago
also has a fantastic selection of beautiful beaches. Here Tommy and Johny are
wandering down Mt Irvine beach, just down the hill from our Villa on the
Caribbean coast.
The Atlantic side of the island is rougher as you can see from the waves behind
Vicky and Louise on the Hilton Beach. |
Richard learns from the locals that aloe is a great cure for
sunburn. We are not clear why after paying the guy for an all over treatment he
then goes in the sea and washes it all off.
Perhaps reading in the sea is one way of stopping the burning sensation? |
 Mount
Irvine beach also has a beach bar that serves great chips - a hit with the
boys, as well as fried flying fish, roti and all the local favourites.
Having had our lunch we buy our dinner from one of the local fishermen who set
up their stall every afternoon by the beach wall. The fish are so fresh they
are still moving. We find a huge grouper that once baked keeps us going for
days.
